Solar and Tankless Water Heaters:ᅠ What Every Inspector Needs to Know
This session will cover gas supply sizing, venting, location of a good installation, clearances, trouble shooting, safety features, how a tankless operates, electrical and water requirements, code issues, annual service requirements, applications, installation and use of the remote control, proper recirculation installation, and condensing VS non-condensing tankless water heaters. We will focus on tankless technology, what it can and cannot do, and how tankless units should and should not be installed. We will discuss the major issues found in problem installations that an inspector should look for in evaluating a properly installed tankless units and solar water heaters.
Making Homes More Energy Efficient:ᅠ Building Science, Energy Audits and Energy Ratings for New and Existing Homes
This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of the latest trends in energy efficiency for new and existing homes, including how to build new homes right and make existing homes better.ᅠ Daran will cover the latest energy efficiency programs being offered at the national and local level, explain some of the diagnostic tools used to confirm a homes performance, review the basics of good building science that are necessary to make homes energy efficient, and explain the role played by Home Energy Raters and Auditors in the process.
